Section 31: Posting of schedule of fares. <br /> A. Interior of For-hire Vehicle. The owner of every for-hire vehicle shall cause to be <br /> posted and maintained in a conspicuous location in the passenger's compartment of <br /> such vehicle a card of form, size and color approved by the City on which shall be <br /> a shown a schedule of rates including the listing of drop, mileage,waiting time, <br /> extras and discounts,which rates shall not be in excess of amounts fixed by this <br /> ordinance. <br /> B. Exterior of Taxis and Special Service Vehicles. A permanently affixed sign <br /> indicating the rates as set forth in this ordinance shall be posted on both sides of <br /> the vehicle and be clearly readable from the side of the vehicle. The sign shall be <br /> located on the upper half of the body,below the window line affixed to the rear <br /> door; or when unavailable, placed immediately adjacent to the rear door. The <br /> lettering shall be no smaller than three-fourths inches except for one-half inch <br /> minimum for "cents" rates, and shall be on a contrasting background. The City <br /> shall have the right to require signage as would be necessary to accomplish the <br /> purpose of this section. <br /> Section 32: Right to require proof of sufficient funds-Carrying more than one <br /> fare. <br /> A. Every driver of a for-hire vehicle shall have the right to demand proof that the <br /> passenger has sufficient funds to pay his fare. It is unlawful for any driver to refuse <br /> to accept as a passenger any person of proper deportment who requests <br /> transportation when the for-hire vehicle is not already engaged, or discriminate <br /> against any person because of religion, race, creed, color, national origin, sex, <br /> marital status, mental or sensory handicap, or age. <br /> B. It is unlawful for the driver of a taxicab to carry any other person other than the <br /> passenger first employing the taxicab without the consent of such passenger. <br /> Section 33: Fraud or refusal to pay fare unlawful. <br /> It is unlawful for any person to refuse to pay the regular fare of any for-hire vehicle after <br /> having hired the same. It is unlawful for any person to hire any vehicle defined in this <br /> ordinance with intent to defraud the person from whom it is hired of the value of such <br /> service. <br /> Section 34: Call record required. <br /> It is unlawful for any person owning or operating any taxicab or for-hire vehicle to fail to <br /> keep an accurate daily record on a trip sheet, the form and size to be determined and <br /> approved by the chief of police. All daily trip sheets shall be kept on file for a period of <br /> two years at the address for which the vehicle for-hire license is issued. All daily trip <br /> sheets shall be open for inspection by the chief of police either while carried in the vehicle <br /> for hire or at the address of the licensee. It is unlawful for any taxicab or for-hire driver to <br /> fail or refuse to turn in his trip sheets or moneys collected from taxi-trip fares to his <br /> employer or his duly authorized agent at the end of each shift worked.
