indicate a fare, rate or charge based on waiting time, initial charge, and such other <br /> fares, rates or charges as are not prohibited by the license code or the weights and <br /> measures code and upon which such calculated charges shall be indicated by means <br /> of figures. <br /> V. "Trip sheet" means a daily record prepared by a taxicab driver of all trips made by <br /> the driver showing time and place of origin, destination, number of passengers and <br /> the amount of fare of each trip. <br /> Section 3: Purpose <br /> This ordinance is an exercise of the City's power to license, control and regulate privately <br /> operated taxicab transportation services within the City. These regulatory purposes, <br /> without limitation, include protection of the public health, safety and welfare and <br /> promotion of safe, reliable and economically viable and stable taxicab transportation <br /> service. <br /> Section4: Rules and regulations. <br /> The chief of police and the city clerk are authorized to promulgate rules and regulations <br /> for the operation of for-hire vehicles consistent with the terms of this ordinance. <br /> Section 5: Title-Gender. <br /> A. All references in this ordinance to the city clerk and chief of police shall include <br /> their respective designees. <br /> B. Any reference to or use of the terms "he", "she", "him", "her" or other gender- <br /> based classification, if applicable as shown by the context thereof, shall apply to <br /> the opposite gender also. <br /> Section 6: Supersede. <br /> The requirements of this ordinance as they relate to the licensing regulations for for-hire <br /> vehicles shall supersede all other ordinances and City codes adopted by the City on the <br /> same subject. <br /> Section 7: License required. <br /> A. It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation or any other organization to hold <br /> out, advertise, solicit, operate, drive or use any vehicle as a for-hire vehicle in the <br /> City without having first obtained the licenses required pursuant to the provisions <br /> of this ordinance. <br /> B. The provisions of this ordinance shall not apply to motor vehicles operated by any <br /> municipal or privately owned, licensed nonprofit transit system. <br /> Section 8: License term-Expiration of licenses and license fees-Limitation. <br /> A. All licenses issued under this ordinance shall expire on July 31st of each year. Such <br /> licenses may be renewed by the license holder for the succeeding year by making <br /> application therefor with the city clerk at least ten days prior to the expiration date. <br /> 4 <br />
