• 2627 ORDINANCE NO. • An Ordinance amending Sections 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11 and 14 of Ordinance No. 2483, providing for the fixing and determining of the various officers, assistants, deputies and employees of the city of Everett , Washington, re- adjusting the number of officers and employees in accordance with the provi- sions of the Budget for 1935, prescribing the duties of such officers, assist- ants, deputies and employees, fixing their salaries, repealing Ordinance No. 2609 and all other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith, and declaring an emergency . TIE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: That Section 2 of Ordinance No . 2483 be amended to read as follows, to-wit: Section 2. There shall be the following named deputies and assistants in the office of the City Clerk, to-wit: Deputy city clerk, one office clerk and one stenographer and clerk. It shall be the duty of such deputy city clerk, office clerk and stenographer and clerk in said office to perform the duties pertaining to the office of city clerk under the authority and direction of said city clerk . Section 2: That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 2483 be amended to read as follows, to-wit: Section 4. There shall be the following officers and assist- ants in the Health Department, to-wit: One Health Officer, one Deputy Health Officer, one bilk and Food Inspector, one Clerk and Stenographer (half time) . It shall be the duty of the deputy health officer, milk and food inspector, clerk and stenographer to perform the duties pertaining to said department un- der the direction of the health officer and the commissioner of public safety . The office of the meat inspector is temporarily abolished for reasons of econ- omy and to curtail the expenses of the department . Section 3: That Section 5 of Ordinance No. 2483 be amended to read as follows , to-wit: Section 5 . There shall be the following named officers and assistants in the Police Department , to-wit: One chief of police , one captain, four desk sergeants, two detectives, twenty patrolmen, one police matron , one jailor and cook, one stenographer (half time ) . The office of the chief of bu- reau of identification, for reasons of economy, shall be eliminated . Patrolmen for the first year of service shall be classed as third class patrolmen; patrol- men for the second year of service shall be classed as second class patrolmen, and patrolmen for the third year and thereafter shall be classed as first class patrolmen. It shall be the duty of the officers and assistants in such depart- ment to perform the duties indicated by the name of their employment and such -1-
