• <br /> 2627 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. • <br /> An Ordinance amending Sections 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11 and 14 of Ordinance <br /> No. 2483, providing for the fixing and determining of the various officers, <br /> assistants, deputies and employees of the city of Everett , Washington, re- <br /> adjusting the number of officers and employees in accordance with the provi- <br /> sions of the Budget for 1935, prescribing the duties of such officers, assist- <br /> ants, deputies and employees, fixing their salaries, repealing Ordinance No. <br /> 2609 and all other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith, <br /> and declaring an emergency . <br /> TIE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That Section 2 of Ordinance No . 2483 be amended to read as <br /> follows, to-wit: Section 2. There shall be the following named deputies and <br /> assistants in the office of the City Clerk, to-wit: Deputy city clerk, one <br /> office clerk and one stenographer and clerk. It shall be the duty of such <br /> deputy city clerk, office clerk and stenographer and clerk in said office to <br /> perform the duties pertaining to the office of city clerk under the authority <br /> and direction of said city clerk . <br /> Section 2: That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 2483 be amended to read as <br /> follows, to-wit: Section 4. There shall be the following officers and assist- <br /> ants in the Health Department, to-wit: One Health Officer, one Deputy Health <br /> Officer, one bilk and Food Inspector, one Clerk and Stenographer (half time) . <br /> It shall be the duty of the deputy health officer, milk and food inspector, <br /> clerk and stenographer to perform the duties pertaining to said department un- <br /> der the direction of the health officer and the commissioner of public safety . <br /> The office of the meat inspector is temporarily abolished for reasons of econ- <br /> omy and to curtail the expenses of the department . <br /> Section 3: That Section 5 of Ordinance No. 2483 be amended to read as <br /> follows , to-wit: Section 5 . There shall be the following named officers and <br /> assistants in the Police Department , to-wit: One chief of police , one captain, <br /> four desk sergeants, two detectives, twenty patrolmen, one police matron , one <br /> jailor and cook, one stenographer (half time ) . The office of the chief of bu- <br /> reau of identification, for reasons of economy, shall be eliminated . Patrolmen <br /> for the first year of service shall be classed as third class patrolmen; patrol- <br /> men for the second year of service shall be classed as second class patrolmen, <br /> and patrolmen for the third year and thereafter shall be classed as first class <br /> patrolmen. It shall be the duty of the officers and assistants in such depart- <br /> ment to perform the duties indicated by the name of their employment and such <br /> -1- <br />
