The only thing I see in the city ordinances is that nonstructural surface finishes are
exempt from permit requirements in section 105.2 and nonstructural repairs are
exempt in 105.2.2 of the residential code. We have not removed any portion of a
wall or structural member. Your existing code 403 also says repairs must maintain
the current level of compliance and protection, and the electrical section says like
for like repairs are allowed. Also, the energy code, which discusses insulation,
allows like materials for repairs in section 501.5. We are consistent with the
ordinances, so I'm not sure why you are requesting a building permit. Hopefully
you will agree that one is not required in my situation as we were originally
instructed.
I also noticed attached garages require a 1-hr fire rating, so it seems important
that the drywall got replaced as soon as possible after the permitted electrical
work is complete. By your electrical inspector requiring the drywall to be left
removed for so long, that would put me and my family in danger to have an
unprotected garage, so it seems prudent that he should finish the electrical
inspection as quickly as possible so the garage could return to its original state to
maintain the existing protection. The lack of follow through puts us in danger and
is inconsistent with the requirements
Please send your inspector to finish my inspection. I am happy to remove portions
of the drywall again if he or she needs to see in the wall, but I'm hoping not to
buy a building permit for it.
Thanks again for your time and attention to this.
Once I hear back from you I will move forward and get the required inspection
scheduled.
Scott Selfridge
344 View Ridge Drive
Everett, Wa.
425-501-2430
Sent from Mail for Windows
From: Drew Martin
Sent: Thursday, June 30, 2022 8:34 AM
To: SCOTTSELFRI DGP Cindy Be msma
Subject: RE: [EXTERNAL] RE: W2206-012 344 VIEW RIDGE DR
