August 23, 2023 <br />1 <br />The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 6:30 p.m., August 23, 2023, <br />by President Stonecipher. <br />Upon roll call, it was found that Mayor Franklin and Council Members Fosse, Rhyne, Vogeli, <br />Zarlingo, Tuohy, and Stonecipher were present. Council Member Schwab was excused. <br />Council Member Rhyne led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Council Member Vogeli read the land acknowledgement. <br />The minutes of the August 16, 2023, City Council meeting were approved. <br />MAYOR’S COMMENTS <br />Mayor Franklin stated former Mayor Pete Kinch passed away. <br />Mayor Franklin welcomed Police Chief Dan Templeman to introduce two new police officers. <br />OATH – POLICE OFFICERS <br />Moved by Council Member Tuohy, seconded by Council Member Fosse, to concur with the <br />appointment of Tessalyn Sutton and Brent Fakkema as new police officers. <br />Roll was called with all council members voting yes except Council Member Schwab, who was <br />excused. <br />Motion carried. <br />The City Clerk administered the oath of office, Mayor Franklin pinned the officers with their <br />badges, and Mayor Franklin and Council members congratulated Officers Sutton and Fakkema. <br />Snohomish County Jail Briefing <br />Presented by Sheriff Adam Fortney, Bureau Chief Scott Robertson, Major <br />Alonzo Downing, and Nurse Supervisor Nancy Roach, Snohomish County <br />Sheriff’s Office <br />Discussion ensued with Snohomish County Sheriff’s office personnel answering Council <br />questions.
