• "Renewals" is meant the rebuilding of lines previously installed which have become useless through depreciation. REPLACENENTS: Replacements shall be made at the expense of the local improvement dis- trict causing the same. By "Replacement" is meant the installation of new pipe either feeder, lateral or temporary lines, or a change of level or ser- vice made necessary by the construction of local improvements, such as pav- ing, sidewalks, regrades, etc. There shall be credited upon the cost of such replacements of temporary lines the salvaged value of the line replaced, prorated to each lot in pro- portion to the amount paid by said lot upon the cost of the original line . There shall be credited upon the cost of such replacements of lateral lines the accrued depreciation of the line replaced, prorated to each lot in proportion to the amount paid by said lot upon the cost of the original lateral. Section 9 - Cross Connections - Private Fire Systems: 9A - For the purpose of this ordinance , a cross-connection is declared to be a physical arrangement whereby the public water supply system of the City of Everett , either within or without the limits of said city, is con- nected with another water supply system, either public or private, in such a manner that a flow of water into said Everett water supply system from such other water supply system is possible . 9B - For the purpose of this ordinance , a by-pass is declared to be a physical arrangement whereby water may be diverted around any gate valve, check valve or meter. 9C - All cross-connections with the Everett public water supply system, either within or without the corporate limits of the City of Evarett, shall be prohibited on and after the effective date of this ordinance . 9D - No by-pass shall be established or maintained after said effective date of this ordinance . 9E - After the effective date of this ordinance, the public water supply system of the City of Everett shall be made available for private fire pro- tection systems by the following methods only: -4-
