cost of the lateral lines to six inch diameter, and shall be credited the sal- <br /> vage value of the temporary lines pro-rated to each lot, in proportion to its <br /> original payment made therefor. <br /> (2) Where lateral lines are in place and still giving service, and by <br /> reason of paving it becomes necessary to replace them with a more durable or <br /> larger pipe , a dual system of laterals shall be installed, a six (6) inch and <br /> a two (2) inch, or of pipes of larger size, which shall be cross connected at <br /> suitable intervals, and shall include all valves, hydrants , fittings, drains, <br /> and appurtenances to make a complete improvement, the cost of laying the new <br /> lines shall be paid by the improvement district, and shall be credited thereon <br /> the accrued depreciation. Depreciation shall be computed at a five (5) per <br /> cent per annum rate. <br /> The superintendent of the water department shall determine the life of <br /> laterals , mains and all structures pertaining to Everett' s Municipal Water Sys- <br /> tem. It is to be observed that by the sinking fund method, the annual depre- <br /> ciation is equivalent to the sinking fund annuity plus the annual interest, <br /> in the year under consideration, and that the accrued depreciation corresponds <br /> to the accrued sinking fund. The accrued amount in percent is equal to the <br /> life rate in per cent divided by the age rate in per cent . <br /> SYSTEM IMPROVEIâ–ºENT LINES: <br /> All system improvement lines shall be paid for by the water system, as here- <br /> inafter set forth. By "system improvement lines" is meant lines constructed for <br /> the purpose of improving the distribution system as a whole or in part and not <br /> used as lateral; provided , however, that where lines of more than six inches in <br /> diameter, used as feeders and also as laterals, are installed, the expense of <br /> construction thereof shall be pro-rated as follows; to the property there shall <br /> lofero/ <br /> be charged an amount equal to the cost of installing a six inch :mrisssa line , in- <br /> cluding hydrants, and the water system shall bear all cost in excess thereof. <br /> Whenever such a line shall be "Replaced" as/hereinafter described , the property <br /> shall bear the cost of a 'six inch standard lateral , and shall be credited its <br /> proportionate part of the accrued depreciation of the old line . <br /> RENEWALS: <br /> Renewals shall be made at the expense of the Water System.
