• <br /> Section 13 - Notice To Consumers <br /> The Water Department reserves the right to shut off the water from the <br /> mains at any time without notice, for repairs, extensions, or other necessary <br /> purposes, without liability for damage, and persons having boilers supplied <br /> by direct pressure from the main are cautioned against danger. The Water De- <br /> partment shall endeavor to notify customers , but will not be responsible for <br /> the safety of boilers or other fixtures on the premises of any water consumer. <br /> Section 14 - Liability for Fire Loss <br /> The Water Department hereby expressly notifies its consumers and patrons <br /> that it will not be responsible or liable for any losses by fires or conflag- <br /> rations by reason of any lack of supply of water or water pressure , at the <br /> time of fires or fire alarms, or at any other time; and any rates established <br /> for sprinkling systems or attachments, and stand pipes , or any fire protection <br /> appliances , are and shall be always conditional that no liability of any kind <br /> or nature whatsoever shall attach to the Water Department by failure of the <br /> water supply at the time of fire or fire alarms, or at any other time . For <br /> protection against losses by fire , consumers are requested to take out poli- <br /> cies of fire insurance as liability of the Water Department for loss against <br /> fire is hereby declared to be nothing; that being the intention of this rule <br /> in the operation of the works. Water is supplied for sprinkling purposes, not <br /> for fire protection to any consumer, and all contracts for water are hereby <br /> made subject to this rule . <br /> Section 15 - Stop and Waste Cocks <br /> Consumers shall at their own expense put in all pipes and connections <br /> from the stop cock placed by the Water Department , and all pipes must be pro- <br /> vided with stop and waste cocks, protected from frost and accessible to the <br /> consumer, that they may be drained to prevent freezing and the water shut off <br /> for repairs to service pipes . Additional stop and waste cocks shall also be <br /> placed in all sags and bends in the pipes when they cannot be otherwise drained. <br /> Each outside hose bib shall be protected by an additional stop and waste cock. <br /> The Water Department shall refuse to turn on the water until the provisions of <br /> this section are complied with. A charge of fifty (500) cents will be made <br /> where it becomes necessary for an employee of the Water Department to shut off <br /> or turn on water to repair broken pipes, or for installing stop and waste . <br /> -6- <br />
