CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br />Beverly Lake Water Quality Retrofit Division 1 – GENERAL REQUIREMENTS August 2023 <br />WO No – UP3745 SP – 156 <br />2-07.4 Measurement <br />Revise 2-07.4 to read as follows: <br />Water will not be measured. <br />2-07.5 Payment <br />Revise 2-07.5 to read as follows: <br />All costs for the Work described in Section 2-07 shall be included with the Work with no <br />direct compensation made. <br />2-09 STRUCTURE EXCAVATION <br />2-09.2 Materials <br />Supplement 2-09.2 by adding the following at end of the materials list: <br />Foundation Material Class A or B 9-03.17 Standard Specifications <br />2-09.3 Construction Requirements <br />2-09.3(1) General Requirements <br />2-09.3(1)C Removal of Unstable Base Material <br />Delete all paragraphs in 2-09.3(1)C and substitute the following: <br />When the material at the bottom of an excavation is not stable enough to <br />support the Structure, the Contractor shall excavate below grade to the depth <br />required by the Engineer and replace the unstable material with Foundation <br />Material Class A or B. <br />Place Foundation Material Class A or B in layers not more than six inches thick <br />and compact to minimum of 90-percent maximum density as determined by 2- <br />03.3(14)D. <br />Dispose of unsuitable material removed to make room for foundation material <br />by hauling to a waste site obtained and provided by the Contractor in <br />accordance with 2-03.3(7)C. <br />2-09.3(1)D Disposal of Excavated Material <br />Delete the second paragraph in 2-09.3(1)D and substitute the following: <br />All costs for disposing of excavated material, whether within the Project limits <br />or hauled to a disposal site, shall be incidental to the other Bid items in the <br />Proposal. The City will not pay for hauling. Disposal of excavated material <br />shall meet the requirements of 2-03.3(7)C. <br />2-09.3(1)E Backfilling <br />Delete the fourth paragraph in 2-09.3(1)E and substitute the following: <br />Provide CDF having minimum 28-day strength of 50 psi and maximum 28-day <br />strength not to exceed 300-psi. CDF shall be in accordance with Section 3-20.1 <br />of the Design and Construction Standards and Specifications. Provide wet or <br />flowable CDF with consistency having approximate slump between three to ten <br />inches. <br />Controlled Density Fill used for excavation backfill may be placed dry or wet. <br />Use wet, or flowable, CDF for filling abandoned pipes in-place. <br />Supplement 2-09.3(1)E by adding the following: <br />Where CDF is used in lieu of other materials such as foundation material, <br />gravel borrow, washed sand or crushed surfacing top course, the respective <br />limits for trench width or backfill dimensions shall be approved by the Inspector.
