- 535/49 ORDINANCE rJt3: • AN ORDINANCE granting to the City Steam Heating Company of Everett, a corporation, its successors and assigns, the right, privilege and fran- chise to lay down, operate and maintain,pipes and conduits in the streets, / alleys and other public places in the City of Everett for the transmission of steam and to thereby transmit steam for heating and/or other purposes and to charge and collect reasonable rates, tolls and compensation therefor. THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1. That wherever the word City is used in this Ordinance, it shall designate and mean the City of Everett, Snohomish County,Washington, and Wnerever the word Grantee shall be used in this Ordinance, it shall be held to mean the City Steam Heating Company of Everett, a corporation, its successors and assigns. Section 2. That there be and is hereby granted to grantee, the right, privilege and franchise to lay down,re-lay,connect,disconnect,repair,maintain and operate along,through and under the streets,alleys and other public places of the City,such pipes and conduits,together with other structu res,apparat- us,connections and appurtenances as may be necessary or desirable for the pur- pose of conducting,transmitting,distributing and supplying steam to public and private consumers for heating and/or other purposes and also the right and authority to enter such locations from time to time for the maintenance, operation,repair,renewal and removal of said system and/or systems or any portion thereof and to charge and collect reasonable rates,tolls,service connection charges and compensation therefor and to require and hold deposits and/or advances to guarantee payment of service charges and/or unusual con- struction costs. -1 . _
