Drew Martin
From: Drew Martin
Sent: Friday, May 12, 2023 9:23 AM
To: alexg@roofingsolutionsnw.com
Subject: City of Everett Permit Services: 6707 Hardeson Road (B2305-024) - First Building Review
Hello,Alex.
We have completed the first review of the building plans for this project. This email will serve as the review letter. The
comments below should be addressed. Two revised full-sized hard-copies of the drawings should be submitted for
review. An itemized response letter stating how each comment has been addressed should be included with the
drawing. Additional revised documentation, including but not limited structural calculations and other supporting
documentation, should be submitted as required.
Comments
1. The proposed project appears intended to perform a roof recover per IEBC Section 705.3.1 (i.e., install new
roofing system over existing roofing system without removal). Provided this is correct, please submit a written
and signed assessment of the existing roof system to confirm the two requirements per IEBC Section 705.3.1.1:
a. The roof has been assessed, including the insulation and supporting structure, to verify that it does not
exhibit signs of deterioration or water infiltration. It is anticipated that verification of the construction
below the roof membrane will be based on limited representative inspections and observations from
the underside of the roof structure.
b. The existing roof construction consists of only a single layer of roofing.
2. If the proposed project involves removal and replacement of the roofing system instead of a roof recover, the
insulation is required to be increased to current code requirements per WSEC Sections C503.1 and Table
C402.1.3. See IEBC Section 707.1.
Please let me know if you have questions.
— Drew Martin, P.E.,S.E.
Associate Engineer—Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8810 13200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett, WA 98201
EVERETT Phone Hours: M/W/T: 8 am - 12 pm & 1 pm—3 pm;Tu: 1:00pm-3:00pm
everettwa.gov/permits I Facebook I Twitter
Note:Emails and attachments sent to and from the City of Everett are public records and may be subject to disclosure pursuant to the Public
Records Act.
1
