• r <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2522 <br /> An Ordinance relating to School Police and to the use of public <br /> highways and all other places in the city of Everett open t o the <br /> public for the use of vehicles and providing a penalty for the <br /> violating thereof, and declaring an emergency. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: It shall be unlawful for any person to drive or <br /> operate a motor vehicle in a reckless manner over or along any public <br /> street or alley or other place in the City of Everett, open to the <br /> public for the use of vehicles. For the purpose of this Ordinance, <br /> the term "to drive in a reckless manner" shall be construed to mean <br /> the operation of a motor vehicle upon a street, alley or other public <br /> place in this city in such a manner as to endanger or inconvenience <br /> unnecessarily the person or property of other users of such streets <br /> and places. <br /> part of the <br /> Failure upon the/operator of any motor vehicle to exercise due <br /> care and caution in compliance with all traffic laws and requirements <br /> in passing school houses on school days between eight o' dlock a. m. <br /> and five o' clock p. m. , shall be prima facie evidence of reckless <br /> driving . <br /> The Commissioner of Safety of the City of Everett shall appoint <br /> special policemen who shall be designated as "School Police". The <br /> School Police shall be appointed from the student bodies of public <br /> and private schools of the City of Everett , which school Police shall <br /> bd equipped with badges marked SCHOOL POLICE and shall have authority <br /> to regulate traffic of all kinds upon the streets of the City of <br /> Everett, said School Police shall be subordinate to and shall obey <br /> any and all orcers of any Police Officer of the City of Everett. <br /> No driver of any vehicle or street car shall fail to stop his vehicle <br /> or street car when directed to do so by any School Police Officer <br /> and no driver of any vehicle or street car shall again place said <br /> vehicle or street cat in motion after having been so stopped until <br /> directed to do so by such School Police Officer. <br />
