• <br /> • <br /> HOTELS, ROOMING HOUSES, LODGING HOUSES, <br /> APaRTL NT HOUSES, ETC. <br /> a <br /> Secti on/t , .; ' For the purpose of this Ordinance a hotel, lodg- x <br /> ing house and r/.ming house are deemed to be synonymous terns and <br /> shall mean any building containing four or more rooms intended or <br /> designed to be used or Which are used, rented or hired out to be <br /> oeeupied or which are occupied for sleeping purposes by guests; or <br /> any building containing a dormitory room or rooms wherein are kept. <br /> four or more beds for rent or occupation by any person or persons <br /> for sleeping purposes. <br /> Section/Or 1 he term Apartment House or tenement house shall <br /> be deemed for he purpose of this Ordinance to be any building or <br /> portion thereof which is designed, rented, built , leased, let or <br /> hired out to be occupied or which is occupied as the home or residence <br /> of three or more families living independently of each other and <br /> doing their own cooking therein. <br /> Section Jo person, firm or corporation shall keep, conduct, A <br /> maintain, manag r operate or cause to be conducted, managed, main- '; <br /> tamed or operated either as owner, lessor, lessee, manager or agent , <br /> or in any other capacity, any hotel, rooming house, lodging house, <br /> apartment house or tenement house as herein defined, where lodgings <br /> are furnished to guests within the City of Everett, Washington, with- <br /> out first having obtained from the City Clerk of the City of Everett <br /> a license so to do. <br /> Seotio/ D ,', T The license fee for keeping, conducting, maintain <br /> ing or operating any hotel, rooming house, lodging house, apa tment <br /> house or tenement ,house in the City of Everett shall be 4 <br /> per year. / <br /> Sectioie : Every application for a license under the <br /> provision of this ordinance shall be in writing, and shall be signed <br /> by the manager or person mho ie, or will thereafter be - responsible <br /> as owner or manager of such hotel rooming house,; lodging house, <br /> apartment house, tenement house and said application shall be prima <br /> facie evidence in establishing responsibility for any violation of <br /> the provisions of this :ordinance. Applications shall be made on a <br /> form prepared by the City Clerk and filed in his office. The City <br /> Clerk shall promptly turn over said applications to the Chief of Police <br /> for consideration and applioAtlon0 shall either be approed 107 <br /> or rejected by him withine0idays L-om. the date of application <br /> and returned to .the. City Clerk. <br /> Sectioi/ „'. applicants shall be notified promptly by the City <br /> Clerk of the app oval or rejection of said application and if approved <br /> applicant s r to the City Treasurer the license fee as provided <br /> in Sect io l and the City Clerk, shall then issue a license in con <br /> formity with the appiical i. <br /> Sect:ior, a All licenses provided for in this ordinance shall <br /> expire on the day of December of each year and shall be coif <br /> spicuously posted in the office of the premises for v iich issued <br /> The City commission may cancel any license pursuant to this ordinance <br /> for the violation of any provision thereof; but before the same shall <br /> be cancelled the licensee shall be notified and be given a hearing <br /> thereon at such time and place as the said City Commission may pre- <br /> scribe. <br /> A <br />
