<br /> corporate limits of the City of Everett upon which is erected any
<br /> building used in whole or in part as a hotel, apartmenthouse, rooming
<br /> house, lodging house, or tenement house, shall place and maintain at
<br /> the front of every such building at the principal street entrance
<br /> thereof a conspicuous plate or sign of metal or wood bearing the name
<br /> and address of the owner or owners of such building. The letters .or
<br /> characters on such sign or plate shall be in English and of such size
<br /> and distinctness and the sign or plate be so placed that the name
<br /> and address can be easily read by persons passing along the street
<br /> before such entrance.

<br /> Sectioe Tt shall be unlawful for any person, firm or
<br /> a`n nin managing, operating or
<br /> corporation keeping, conducting, m i tsi g g g, p $
<br /> causing to be operated, kept, conducted, maintained or managed, any
<br /> hotel, rooming, lodging, apartment, or tenement house `to arbitrarily
<br /> change the classification of said hotel, rooming, lodging, apartment
<br /> or tenement house, from one of the said classes to!!another without
<br /> first having -notified in writing the Commissioner of Safety of
<br /> Everett of his intention so to do, and satisfactorthy proof presented
<br /> as to the changes, either in building or occupancy which would warrant
<br /> such changes in cc assification as defined in this ordinanceoameften
<br /> ftSectio/ ., . It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or
<br /> corporation keeping, conducting, managing, maintaining or operating
<br /> or causing to be kept , conducted, managed, maintained or operated
<br /> any hotel, rooming house, lodging house, apartment house, tenement
<br /> house or to transfer, re-lease or sell such interest in any hotel,
<br /> rooming, lodging, tenement, club or apartment house to another person,
<br /> firm, or corporation, without first Notifying in writing the Commis-
<br /> sioner of Safety and City Clem of the City. of Everett of such
<br /> change.
<br /> Section/ .J I shall be 'unlawful for the doors of any hdol,
<br /> lodging house, ooming house, tsaement house or apartment house
<br /> , opening upon' the street as well 'as- the doors to the lobby, public
<br /> hall or passage way, to be locked, bolted or .fastened in such a way
<br /> as to prevent immediate entrance or exit at all times.

<br /> license shall have teen issued under-•the previsions of this ordinance
<br /> shall at all times keep a standard hotel register in which shall be
<br /> inscribed the names of all guests or persons renting, using, or
<br /> \'. occupying rooms or quarters therein, which register shall be signed
<br /> by all persons using any room, rooms, space or quarters or by someone
<br /> in his behalf and under his direction. After' the name of each person
<br /> so registered there shall be written the number of the room or rooms which
<br /> gueta or persons are to occupy, with the time when each room was rented
<br /> and the same shall be done before such person or persons are permitted
<br /> to occupy or use such room or rooms. The register shall at all times
<br /> be opened to the inspection of any person and it shall be preserved
<br /> for -a period of one year from date of such registration during which
<br /> time such inspection hall be allowed when demanded.
<br /> Section, : ' No person shall write or cause to be written on
<br /> any hotel regi er any other or different name than the true name of
<br /> the guest or person or the name by which such. guest or person is generaliy
<br /> known, and the true number of each room to be used or occupied by such
<br /> guest at the time of such registration shall be written after such name
<br /> or names.
