It shall be the duty of persons engaged in such businesses, <br /> upon receiving information that any goods or things taken or received <br /> by them or left with them have been lost or stolen, to at once notify <br /> the Chief of Police ite of such fact, giving the name of the person <br /> from whom such thing was received, the time of its receipt , and such <br /> other facts as may tend to the discovery or conviction of the thief <br /> or thieves. .' , ,' _. <br /> Sectie ' Eve-r . pawnbroker or second-hand dealer in the <br /> City of Everett, or their employees, shall keep a book in which shall <br /> be legibly written at the time of each purchase or loan made an <br /> accurate tescription of the goods, articles or things purchased or <br /> pawned, the time of purchasing or pledging the same, the amount of <br /> money paid therefor or loaned thereon, the rate of interest to be <br /> paid on such loan, the time within which said pawn is to be redeemed, <br /> and the name, age and place of residence, with the street and number <br /> of the house of the person selling or pledging such article or thing, <br /> and when any watch is piedg,ed to any pawnbroker or second-hand dealer <br /> he shall write in said book the number of the movement and the number <br /> of the case, if any, and the maker thereof, and when any jewelry, or <br /> gold or silver articles of any kind are sold or pledged to any pawn- <br /> broker or second-hand dealer he shall note in such book all letters <br /> or marks inscribed there n; provided, that when an article purchased <br /> or received is furnitur or the contents of any house or room actually <br /> inspected on the premis , a general record of the transaction <br /> shall be suffigient . <br /> Sectio, /l - All pawnbrokers and second-hand dealers shall, <br /> before 12 o' c ock noon, of every business day, report to the Com- <br /> missioner of Safety on blank forms to be furnished by the said Com- <br /> missioner, the description of all articles received in the :ray of <br /> purchase or pledge on the business day immediately previous, together <br /> with the number of the ticket, in case of pledge, issued therefor, <br /> the amount loaned thereon, and the name, residence ana description <br /> of the person making, the sale or pledge, and such other information <br /> as the Uommissipnn„ Of 5e±ety may require. <br /> Secti /44/ t o pawnbrc .er or second-nand dealer, or their <br /> employees, sha1a receive any pledge or purchase any article from any <br /> person under twenty-one years of age, or from any person who is at <br /> the time intoxicated, or from any habitual drunkard, or from any <br /> person who is known by him to be a thief, Ybx' associate of a thief, <br /> or a receiver of stolen property, or from any person whom he has <br /> reason to suspect or believe to be such. <br /> Section "he"he act of any servant or employee of any such <br /> dealer, shall b deemed the act of such dealer. <br />
