• <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2503 <br /> An Ordinance regulating the business of undertaker or <br /> mortician within the City of Everett, repealing Ordinances <br /> 1166, 1698 and all other Ordinance and parts of Ordinance <br /> of the City of Everett in conflict herewith, and prescribing <br /> a penalty for the violation of the provisions hereof. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: No person, firm or corporation shall engage <br /> in or carry on the business of undertaker or mortician within <br /> the limits of the City of Everett without having first obtained <br /> a permit therefor as hereinafter provided; provided, however, <br /> that this shall not apply to any person, firm or corporation <br /> actually engaged in such business within the limits of said city <br /> at the date of the passage of this ordinance. <br /> Section 2: The business of undertaker or mortician shall <br /> not be conducted or carried on in any settled residence sec- <br /> tion of the City of Everett; provided, however, that when any <br /> portion of a street not less than one block in length is in <br /> a definite state of transition from residential to business uses <br /> and purposes and is so found to be by tjie city council as here- <br /> inafter provided, then any platted lots or tracts of land front- <br /> ing upon such portion of such street, or any platted lots or <br /> trccts of land within one hundred twenty (120) feet thereof, , <br /> shall be deemed, for the purposes of this ordinance, not to be <br /> in a settled residence section of the City of Everett. <br /> Section 3: Application for permit under this ordin. <br /> ance, shall be made in writing, and shall be filed with the <br /> City Clerk, which application shall state the location, by <br /> street and number, at which the person, firm or corporation <br /> so applying desires to carry on said business. The city coun- <br /> cil shall forthwith fix a date for hearing on said application, <br />
