r --- <br /> 41 40 <br /> 411 <br /> ORDINANCE NO, 2469, <br /> An Ordinance calling a special election to be held in the <br /> City of Everett on December Ah, 1929, providing for the submission <br /> to the qualified voters voting at said election of the proposition of <br /> the preparation of a new charter for said City by altering, revising, <br /> changing, addikg to or repealing the present City Charter by fifteen <br /> (15) freeholders to be elected for that purpose, whcse duty it shall <br /> be to prepare a new charter for said. City by altering, revising, <br /> changing, adding to or repealing the existing charter, together with <br /> any amendments thereto, and file the same with the City Clerk within <br /> seventy (70) days after the date of said election, and providing for <br /> the filing of nominations of candidates for such offices of freehol- <br /> der, and declaring an emergency. <br /> Whereas, a petition, signed by one-fourth of the qualified <br /> electors of the City of Everett as shown by the last general election <br /> has been filed with the City Clerk of said city, as provided in Sec- <br /> tion 8955, Remington' s Compiled. Statutes of Washington, as amended, <br /> Now Therefore, <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1. That a special charter election, pursuant to Section <br /> 8955, Remington' s Compiled. Statutes of Washington, as amended, shall <br /> be had and held in the City of Everett on December ,gh, 1929, at which <br /> election the qualified electors of such city may vote on the propos- <br /> ition of the preparation of a new charter for the said city by alter- <br /> ing, revising, changing, adding to or repealing the present city <br /> charter by fifteen ( 15) freeholders to be elected for that purpose. <br /> In the event that a majority of all the votes cast shall be in favor <br /> of the above proposition, the qualified electors of said city shall, <br /> at such election, choose fifteen (15) freeholders thereof, who shall <br /> have been residents of said city for a period of at least two ( 2) <br /> years preceding their election, and qualified electors, whose duty <br /> it shall be to commence within ten (10) days after their election <br />
