• D
-5202
D
COBALT
GEOSCIENCES
December 14, 2020
Jonathan Rempel
Rempel8o8 a gmail.com
RE: Limited Geologic Evaluation
Proposed Landscaping
1033 Temple Drive
Everett, Washington
CITY OF EVERETT
P9Tir6ZR&Waes
P.O. Box 82243
Kenmore, Washington 98028
In accordance with your authorization, Cobalt Geosciences, LLC has prepared this letter to
discuss the results of our limited geologic evaluation of steep slope areas near the above -
referenced location.
The proposed construction includes new landscaping development east of the residence. This
development includes a new cast in place concrete wall near the residence, patio areas, and new
terraced railroad tie walls near the east property line.
Site Description
The site is located at 1033 Temple Drive in Everett, Washington. The site consists of one
irregularly shaped parcel (No. 00596200400302) with a total area of 0.32 acres.
The western half of the property is developed with a residence and accessory walls and driveway
areas. The remainder of the property is undeveloped and vegetated with grasses, bushes, sparse
trees, and other understory.
The site slopes downward from west to east at magnitudes of 5 to about 50 percent and total relief
of about 55 feet. The site has been previously graded with cuts to allow construction of the
residence. There is evidence of recent grading as part of the current development (landscaping
and invasive vegetation removal). We understand that there are erosion and steep slope hazards
near and likely within the subject property according to City mapping.
Area Geology
The Geologic Map of Washington — Northwest Quadrant, indicates that the site is near the
contacts between Vashon Glacial Till and Vashon Advance Outwash.
Vashon Glacial Till consists of relatively dense mixtures of silt, sand, gravel, and cobbles. These
deposits are typically underlain by Vashon Advance Outwash. The outwash includes dense fine to
medium grained sand. These deposits are typically susceptible to surface erosion.
Geologic Hazards
Most critical area ordinances designate slopes with magnitudes greater than about 40 percent and
vertical relief of at least to feet as potentially geologically hazardous (steep slope/landslide
hazards).
www.cobaltgeo.com / (2o6) 331-1097
