• LI <br /> it <br /> 2432 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> An Ordinance in relation to the installation and maintenance <br /> of auxiliary lighting systems in the city of Everett by the use <br /> of ornamental poles, standards or systems of suspension; provid- <br /> ing for their removal in certain cases; declaring the mainten- <br /> ance thereof under certain circumstances to be a nuisance ; pro- <br /> viding for the abatement of such nuisance and providing a pen <br /> alty for the violation of certain provisions hereof. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That the owner of any property abutting upon <br /> any street, avenue or other public place may install and main- <br /> tain an auxiliary ornamental lighting system upon standards or <br /> by suspension in the manner and under the terms and conditions <br /> prescribed in this ordinance. <br /> Section 2: All such standards shall be ornamental in de- <br /> sign and shall be erected just inside the curb or in the park- <br /> ing strip; shall be designed for sustaining at least two (2) <br /> lamps, the combined illumination of such lamps to be not less than <br /> 8000 lumens, which lamps shall be lighted nightly and shall at <br /> all times be maintained in condition for service. <br /> Section 3; That all suspension lights shall be placed on <br /> a cable of sufficient strength and securely anchored so as to <br /> p"event sagging or breaking, and to stand the strain of all <br /> weather conditions; such cables shall be suspended only upon <br /> existing poles in any such street and no permits for addition- <br /> al poles shall be granted for said purpose. No such lights <br /> shall be placed or suspended across any street (except under tem- <br /> porary permit) ; provided, that this last provision shall not be <br /> construed to prevent the granting of permits for crossing the <br /> necessary intersecting streets in the granting of a permit for <br /> such lighting for more than one Cl) block of any street. Such <br /> lights shall at all times be maintained in condition for. service. <br />
