LE LOEB
ELECTRIC
1.0 Program Overview
This scope of work is designed for teams that are completing both the Arc Flash Relay Install (AFRI)
Program and the Parts, Repair, and Maintenance (PRM) tasks. This work consists of several major
services, most of which must be executed during a single 12-14-hour utility outage.
• Arc Flash Relay Installation
o Through light sensors and current monitoring, arc flash relays will rapidly detect and clear
most arc flash events before these events cause significant damage to equipment.
• Arc Flash Study
o Arc Flash Label Application
■ Updated Arc Flash Label to be installed considering the relay clearing time.
■ Arc Flash refresh will not be part of this SOW.
■ Reference Appendix P for label template and further guidance.
• BMS Integration
o By tying in the Arc Flash Relay to the site's BMS, Amazon will have the ability to monitor
the health of its main switchboards.
• GSF Critical Load Support
o Additional temporary power plans required at GSF PM due to refrigeration units.
• Infrared (IR)Window Installation
o By installing IR Windows on the line side of the main switchboards and upstream
Amazon or landlord owned equipment, infrared scans can safely be performed on
equipment that has an incident energy level that is greater than 40 calories.
• Infrared window installation in opportune situations is acceptable downstream
of the main.
• Infrared (IR) Scanning
o IR scan is only required when thermal deficiency was corrected. The scan is the
responsibility of the primary contractor and must be completed the following day
when site is normally loaded.
• Preventative Maintenance (PM)
o Formally known as"LVPM"
o Major Service and Preventive maintenance based on ANSI/NETA MTS standard and Amazon PM
Requirement Appendix A.
o Correction of known issues from previous IR scans which will be provided prior to site walks.
• UPS Replacement
o Upgrading original AFRI install sites that didn't have UPS backup or UPS that doesn't meet current
design standards. These older UPS are at the end of their battery life.
The purpose of this program is to ensure electrical distribution equipment is maintained and in good
working order to prevent unplanned interruptions to the facilities operations. In addition, arc flash relays
are to be installed to lower the safety risk to Amazon associates or contractors operating or repairing
electrical distribution equipment.
31 Page
