February 28, 2023 G-5835
3821 —Shore Ave Everett, WA Page 4
GEOLOGIC HAZARD AREAS INVESTIGATION
Identification and Classification of Geologic Hazard Areas
Geologic hazard areas are areas which may be susceptible to erosion, landslides,or soil
liquefaction during seismic events due to their topography or subsurface conditions. The City of
Everett regulates development within geologic hazard areas to minimize the long-term impact
development may have on the functionality of geologically hazardous areas. Criteria for each
geologic hazard area can be found in the City of&erett's Municipal Code Chapter
19.37.080.The approximate locations of mapped geologic hazard areas are illustrated on Plate 3
— Geologic Hazard,4reas Map.
Landslide Hazard Areas
According to City of Everett's mapping of the project site, slopes near the western limits of the
project site are mapped as a landslide hazard area. According to the City of Everett's mapping,
the landslide hazard area extends onto the adjacent properties to the north, south, and west of the
project site.
During our visual reconnaissance and subsurface investigation of the subject property, we
observed the area identified as a landslide hazard area had grades ranging from approximately 5
to 120 percent, with an average grade of approximately 55 percent, and an average vertical relief
of approximately 40 feet. We observed evidence of recent soil movement near the project site's
northwest corner, where the existing retaining wall is located. No areas designated as quaternary
slumps, earthflows, mudflows, or landslides are identified on the project site by Washington
State's Department of Natural Resources (DNR)published mapping, or on the published
mapping by the United States Geologic Survey(USES). In addition, groundwater seepage or
springs were not observed at or adjacent to slopes at the project site.
Erosion Hazard Areas
According to the City of Everett's mapping of the project site, slopes near the western limit of
the project site are mapped as erosion hazard areas. According to the USDA's web soil survey,
the soils underlying this sloped area consist of Aldeiwood-Everett Gravelly Sandy Loams (4).
During our visual reconnaissance and subsurface investigation of the subject property, we did not
observe any evidence of recent soil erosion.
