February 28,2023 G-5835
3821 — Shore Ave Everett,WA Page 5
were observed to be undisturbed and heavily vegetated with near vertical trees, medium sized
bushes, and ivy groundcover. We observed the previously landscaped areas located east of the
proposed retaining wall's location had been partially stripped of vegetation during prior clearing
and grading activities at the project site.
Seismic Hazard Areas
No seismic hazard areas are mapped at the project site by the City of Everett.
Evaluation of Geologic Hazard Areas
Based on the topography, geologic, and hydrogeologic conditions encountered during our
subsurface investigation and visual reconnaissance of the project site, it is our opinion that the
potential for slope instability in the landslide hazard area mapped by the City of Everett near the
project site's western limit is minimal because of the existing vegetated condition of the areas
beyond the proposed project area, and the project's completed condition is anticipated to include
revegetation of disturbed soils within the project area.
Based on our visual reconnaissance, the proposed retaining wall is to be constructed on the
relatively flat to gently sloping topography located near the eastern extent of the mapped
landslide hazard area, and disturbance to the moderately to steeply sloping topography is not
anticipated for the project.
It is also our opinion that soil erosion at the project site can be mitigated through temporary and
permanent erosion control measures and control of surface water runoff. Our recommendations
for appropriate construction BMPs and erosion control are provided in the Conclusions and
Recommendations section of this report.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the results of our visual reconnaissance, subsurface investigation, and our
understanding of the proposed project, it is our opinion that construction of a ecology block
retaining wall can be completed without increasing the risk of erosion or slope instability within
the mapped landslide hazard area, as well as without increasing the risk of damage to
neighboring properties, such that provided that design and construction recommendations
presented in this report are properly implemented(EMC 19.37.080.C.8).
i
GEO Group Northwest, Inc.
I
