2024 Pavement Maintenance Overlay SPECIAL PROVISIONS PW# 3823 28 General Restrictions 1 Construction vehicles using a closed traffic lane shall travel only in the normal 2 direction of traffic flow unless expressly allowed in an accepted traffic control plan. 3 Construction vehicles shall be equipped with flashing or rotating amber lights. 4 5 No two consecutive on-ramps, off-ramps, or intersections shall be closed at the same 6 time and only one ramp at an interchange shall be closed, unless specifically shown 7 in the Plans. 8 9 Roads or ramps that are designated as part of a detour shall not be closed or 10 restricted during the implementation of that detour, unless specifically shown in the 11 Plans. 12 13 Controlled Access 14 No special access or egress shall be allowed by the Contractor other than normal 15 legal movements or as shown in the Plans. 16 17 Contractor’s vehicles of 10,000 GVW or greater shall not exit or enter a lane open to 18 public traffic except as follows: 19 20 Egress and ingress shall only occur during the hours of allowable lane closures, 21 and: 22 23 1. For exiting an open lane of traffic, by decelerating in a lane that is 24 closed during the allowable hours for lane closures. 25 26 2. For entering an open lane of traffic, by accelerating in a closed lane 27 during the allowable hours for lane closures. 28 29 Traffic control vehicles are excluded from the gross vehicle weight requirement. If 30 placing construction signs will restrict traveled lanes, then the work will be permitted 31 during the hours of allowable lane closures. 32 33 Advance Notification 34 The Contractor shall notify the Engineer in writing of any traffic impacts related to 35 lane closure, shoulder closure, sidewalk closure, or any combination for the week by 36 12:00 p.m. (noon) Wednesday the week prior to the stated impacts. 37 38 The Contractor shall notify the Engineer in writing ten working days in advance of 39 any traffic impacts related to full roadway closure, ramp closure, or both. 40 41 The Contractor shall notify the Engineer in writing of any changes to the stated traffic 42 impacts a minimum of 48 hours prior to the traffic impacts. 43 44 1-07.24.RTF 45 1-07.24 Rights of Way 46 (July 23, 2015 APWA GSP) 47 48 Delete this section and replace it with the following: 49 50
