2024 Pavement Maintenance Overlay SPECIAL PROVISIONS PW# 3823 43 1 2 DIVISION5.GR5 3 Division 5 4 Surface Treatments and Pavements 5 6 COE 5-04.RTF 7 5-04 Hot Mix Asphalt 8 (December 3, 2018 City of Everett based on APWA GSP) 9 10 Delete Section 5-04 and amendments, Hot Mix Asphalt and replace it with the following: 11 12 5-04.1 Description 13 This Work shall consist of providing and placing one or more layers of plant mixed hot 14 mix asphalt (HMA) on a prepared foundation or base in accordance with these 15 Specifications and the lines, grades, thicknesses, and typical cross-sections shown 16 in the Plans. The manufacture of HMA may include warm mix asphalt (WMA) processes 17 in accordance with these Specifications. WMA processes include organic additives, 18 chemical additives, and foaming. 19 20 HMA shall be composed of asphalt binder and mineral materials as may be required, 21 mixed in the proportions specified to provide a homogeneous, stable, 22 and workable mixture. 23 24 5-04.2 Materials 25 Materials shall meet the requirements of the following sections: 26 Asphalt Binder 9-02.1(4) 27 Cationic Emulsified Asphalt 9-02.1(6) 28 Anti-Stripping Additive 9-02.4 29 HMA Additive 9-02.5 30 Aggregates 9-03.8 31 Recycled Asphalt Pavement 9-03.8(3)B 32 Mineral Filler 9-03.8(5) 33 Recycled Material 9-03.21 34 Portland Cement 9-01 35 Sand 9-03.1(2) 36 (As noted in 5-04.3(5)C for crack sealing) 37 Joint Sealant 9-04.2 38 Foam Backer Rod 9-04.2(3)A 39 The Contract documents may establish that the various mineral materials required for 40 the manufacture of HMA will be furnished in whole or in part by the Contracting Agency. 41 If the documents do not establish the furnishing of any of these mineral materials by the 42 Contracting Agency, the Contractor shall be required to furnish such materials in the 43 amounts required for the designated mix. Mineral materials include coarse and fine 44 aggregates, and mineral filler. 45 46
