Therefore, significant 20 iron adjustment is not anticipated, and adjustment of structures to grade shall occur 21 only as needed and/or directed by the engineer. 22 23 Manholes, catch basins, and other structures shall not be adjusted to grade until the 24 pavement is completed, at which time the center of each structure shall be carefully 25 relocated from references previously established by the Contractor. The structure 26 shall then be brought to proper grade as follows: 27 28 1. The existing cast iron ring and cover on manholes and existing cast iron frame 29 and grates for catch basins and inlets shall be removed and thoroughly 30 cleaned before reinstalling at the new elevation. 31 32 2. The asphalt concrete pavement shall be cut and removed to a new circle, the 33 diameter of which shall be equal to the outside diameter of the cast iron frame 34 plus 2’. 35 36 3. The roadway surface materials and crushed rocks shall be removed so the 37 structure casting can be adjusted to the finished road grade elevation. 38 39 4. The cast iron frame shall be placed on concrete blocks and wedged up to the 40 desired grade with plastic wedges. 41 42 5. The edges of the asphalt concrete pavement and the outer edge of the 43 castings shall be painted with tack and HMA Class ½” PG 64-22 shall be 44 placed and compacted in layers to a minimum of 91% of the maximum 45 theoretical density of the HMA. 46 47 The completed patch shall match the existing paved surface for texture, density, and 48 uniformity of grade. The joint between the patch and the existing pavement shall 49
