2024 Pavement Maintenance Overlay SPECIAL PROVISIONS PW# 3823 69 then be carefully painted with hot asphalt cement or asphalt emulsion and shall be 1 immediately covered with dry paving sand before the asphalt cement solidifies. 2 3 The inside throat of the structure shall be thoroughly mortared and plastered through 4 to the outside of the structure’s concrete adjustment rings. 5 6 Castings that need replacement shall be identified by the City of Everett. 7 Replacement casting will be supplied by the City of Everett and original casting will 8 be picked up by the City of Everett. 9 10 11 GLF 7-05.3(5).DOCX 12 Adjusting Valve Boxes to Grade 13 (******) 14 15 Section 7-05.3 of the standard specifications is supplemented with the following: 16 17 (******) 18 Where shown in the plans, existing valve boxes and covers shall be adjusted to the 19 grade as staked or otherwise designated by the Engineer. The adjustment of the 20 valve box to grade by the use of riser rings is not allowed. 21 22 Removal operations shall be conducted to prevent damage to the valve boxes. Any 23 parts or materials damaged due to the Contractor's operations shall be replaced at 24 the Contractor’s expense. 25 26 The Contractor shall conduct the valve box adjustments so that the fully-adjusted box 27 allows the respective valve to be fully operational.
