CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> <br />Water Main Replacement “Y” – Ph 1 Div 1 – GENERAL REQMTS March 2024 <br />Work Order No. UP 3814 SP-72 <br />To facilitate the establishment of these lines and elevations, the City will provide the <br />Contractor with the following survey control: <br />ROADWAY, SURFACING AND PAVING <br />Establish elevation bench marks and center or base line alignment control <br />points for the mainline, one time only. Provide right of way stakes where <br />applicable. <br />Provide rights-of-way, easements or right-of-entry. <br />Provide the Contractor with technical advice if requested. <br />Computed grades where needed. <br />Provide horizontal and vertical curve data. <br />One copy of transit notes showing reference to horizontal and vertical control <br />points. <br />OTHER STRUCTURES <br />Centerline or offset coordinates to centerline of the structure. <br />A sufficient number of bench marks for levels to enable the Contractor to set <br />grades at reasonably short distances. <br />Monuments and control points as shown on the Plans. <br />The Contractor shall give the City three weeks notification to allow adequate <br />time to provide the above data. <br />The Contractor shall ensure a surveying accuracy within the following tolerances: <br />1. Slope stakes ±0.1 foot <br />2. Subgrade blue tops ±0.01 foot <br />3. Stationing ±0.01 foot <br />4. Alignment ±0.01 foot <br />5. Surfacing red & yellow tops ±0.01 foot <br />6. Superstructure elevations ±0.01 foot (from plan elevations) <br />7. Substructure ±0.02 foot (from plan elevations) <br />The Contractor shall slope stake the roadway before any construction may proceed. <br />Slope stakes shall be set at 50' maximum intervals on tangents and 25’ on curves. <br />Subgrade bluetops and surfacing red and yellow tops shall be set at 50' intervals in <br />tangent sections, 25' intervals in curve sections, and 10' intervals in intersection radii. <br />The Contractor's surveyor shall be a licensed surveyor in the State of Washington. The <br />Contractor shall keep updated survey field notes in a standard field book and in a <br />format set by the Engineer. These field notes shall include all survey work performed <br />by the Contractor's surveyor in establishing line, grade and slopes for the construction <br />work. Copies of these field notes shall be provided to the Engineer upon request and <br />upon completion of the Contract Work; the field book shall be submitted to the <br />Engineer and become property of the City. <br />If the survey work provided by the Contractor does not meet the standards of the <br />Engineer, then the Contractor shall, upon the Engineer's written request, remove the <br />individual or individuals doing the survey work and the survey work will be completed <br />by the Engineer at the Contractor's expense. Costs for completing the survey work <br />required by the Engineer will be deducted from monies due or to become due the <br />Contractor. <br />The City may spot-check the Contractor's surveying. These spot-checks will not <br />change the requirements for normal checking and testing as described elsewhere, and <br />do not relieve the Contractor of the responsibility of producing a finished product that is <br />in accordance with the Contract.
