Edgewater Creek Bridge Replacement November 2023 141 Product Delivery, Storage and Handling 1 The manufacturer shall deliver the isolators to the jobsite in protective packaging 2 suitable for freight and handling purposes. The Contractor shall store the 3 isolators under cover and above ground in the original packaging until 4 installation. 5 6 Installation 7 Care shall be taken during storage and installation of the isolators to prevent 8 damage to the isolator or coating materials on the steel. 9 10 The isolators shall be installed level and normal to gravity loads; superstructure 11 gradients should be accommodated with tapered sole plates or other means. 12 Installation shall take place within the ambient temperature range specified in 13 the contract documents. Installation outside this range shall be accommodated 14 by imposing the appropriate offset for the temperature at the time of installation, 15 or by determining if excess capacity is available in the isolator to withstand the 16 additional imposed thermal deformation. 17 18 Under no circumstances shall the plate adjacent to the isolator be allowed to 19 reach more than 200°F. 20 21 Contractor shall provide a complete record of the location of each installed 22 isolator, by serial number, to both the Engineer and the manufacturer. 23 24 There shall be no obstructions, including bolt extensions, which prevent the 25 isolators from deforming horizontally in any direction.
