The pipe insertion equipment operator/technician’s experience and 1 verifiable references. 2 3 The following items must be included, but not limited to, for review and approval by 4 the Engineer, and in accordance with Section 1-06: 5 6 1. Catalog cuts, Specifications, dimensioned Shop Drawings, installation 7 details, and sketches. 8 2. Stormwater Structure connection details. 9 3. Certificate of Compliance for all HDPE pipe and fittings furnished confirming 10 that the materials supplied conform to the specified requirements. 11 4. Certified laboratory testing data confirming satisfactory results were 12 obtained on a sample of the pipe to be provided under the Contract. 13 14 7-04.3(2)B Existing Utilities 15 The Contractor shall locate and mark the existing utilities within the excavation 16 vicinity as determined by the Engineer, as specified in Section 1-07.17. Potholing to 17 determine the depth of utilities may be requested by the Engineer. 18 19 7-04.3(2)C Pipe Cleaning and Existing Site Preparation 20 Conduct Work in a manner that prevents blockage and minimizes surcharging in the 21 stormwater manholes and connecting stormwater pipelines. Promptly repair damage 22 to existing facilities as a result of the Contractor’s Work at no additional cost to the 23 Contracting Agency. 24 25 Handle and store all HDPE pipe to ensure that the pipe is not cut, gouged, scored, 26 or otherwise damaged. Store the pipe to ensure that it is not deformed axially or 27 circumferentially. Before installation of the pipe, inspect all pipe to verify its condition 28 with the Engineer. The Contractor shall cut out and remove from the pipe segments 29 with cuts, gouges, or scoring in the pipe wall exceeding 10% of the wall thickness. 30 The Contractor shall submit a pipe condition inspection report and receive approval 31 from the Engineer. 32 33 7-04.3(2)D Bypass Pumping 34 The Contractor shall prepare a plan to bypass the stormwater flow for all existing 35 pipes as necessary to maintain existing stormwater flow at all times. The bypassing 36 plan shall be reviewed and approved by the Engineer. 37 38 7-04.3(2)E Pipe Joining 39 A. Join sections of HDPE pipe in continuous lengths on-site, above ground. 40 Use butt fusion methods which shall be performed in strict accordance with 41 the pipe manufacturer’s criteria for the type of joining. Fusion equipment 42 used in the joining procedure shall be capable of meeting all conditions 43 recommended by the pipe manufacturer, including, but not limited to, fusion 44 temperature, alignment and fusion pressure. Electrofusion may be used 45 for field closures as necessary. 46 47 B. A fire retardant bag or suitable enclosure shall be used with the heater plate 48 to facilitate control of heating process and to protect the heater plate 49 surfaces from dirt and other debris when not in use. The heater plate sur-50 faces shall be cleaned regularly as needed to prevent accumulation of 51
