Edgewater Creek Bridge Replacement November 2023 163 Contractor-Designed Temporary Irrigation System 1 The Contractor shall design and construct a temporary on-grade above-ground irrigation 2 system in accordance with these Specifications for woody planting areas defined on the 3 Planting Plan. All irrigation design Work by the Contractor shall be reviewed and 4 approved by the Engineer and Contracting Agency prior to construction. All Working 5 Drawings shall include all necessary information (such as PSI, GPM, pipe sizes, sleeving 6 size and location, valve schedule, utility locations, etc.) for a complete design review. The 7 Contractor shall submit two (2) hardcopies of the Working Drawings to the Engineer for 8 review. Minimum Working Drawing scale shall be 1”-20’ unless otherwise approved by 9 the Engineer. 10 11 Any item of labor, material or equipment not specified or shown in detail in the Working 12 Drawings, but incidental to or necessary for the complete installation and proper operation 13 of the system, shall be furnished by the Contractor without additional cost to the 14 Contracting Agency. 15 16 The irrigation system shall be designed and constructed using components, valves, 17 piping, fittings, wiring, etc., of sizes and types as called for in these Specifications. 18 19 The system shall be constructed to proposed grades and conform to the Planting Plan. 20 21 All system components shall be installed pursuant to the written specifications and 22 applicable construction details of the product manufacturer. 23 24 Layout of Irrigation System 25 Stake the sprinkler irrigation system following the submittal and approval of the Contractor 26 design before the construction begins. Alterations and changes in the layout may be 27 expected in order to conform to the ground conditions and to obtain full and adequate 28 coverage of water. It is understood that corrective measures in the system may become 29 necessary, but no changes or alterations in the system as planned shall be made without 30 the prior authorization of the Contracting Agency. 31 32 Before starting Work, determine that Work may proceed without disruption of activities of 33 other trades. 34 35 The Contractor shall carefully check grades to ensure that the area is ready to begin 36 Work. 37 38 The Contractor is responsible for taking all reasonable investigative actions and 39 precautions when working around all utility systems. 40 41 Trenching 42 No trenching is assumed to be necessary except for point of connection. Place irrigation 43 pipe on grade and beneath mulch layer in planting areas. 44 45 Spray Heads 46 Contractor shall propose heads, nozzles, and fittings capable of head-to-head coverage 47 with minimal overspray of planting areas. Heads for the temporary system shall be 48 mounted on tree stakes or t-posts with hose clamps approximately 4 feet above grade. 49 50
