ENG/NEE/ //YG I PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT
}f
, .,-.4300J
April 26, 2007
Mr. Chuck Lauby
Madison Community Church
7404 Olympic Drive
Everett, WA 98203
RE: The New Madison Community Church
6900 Wetmore Avenue
Dear Mr. Lauby:
It has been brought to our attention that there may be some structural and quality
control issues with the current construction. These are:
1. The fasteners used to attach the hardiplank siding appear not to be approved
by the International Building Code.
2. The Harristone masonry apron has been installed without weep screeds or
flashing per manufacturer's specifications.
3. The tension rods in the structure's bracing system have not been installed
according to the engineer's detail. The resulting added eccentricity may
result in unacceptable stresses within the connection.
• 4. There appear to be structural issues with the exterior wall stud framing and
how this framing is connected to the steel framework.
Items 1 &2 are not typically inspected by this department. Inspections regarding Items
3 & 4 arc performed both by special inspection agency and City of Everett staff.
Therefore; it is our request that Items 3 & 4 be investigated. Item 3 should be
addressed by the steel building engineer of record. Item 4 should be addressed by an
Engineer licensed in the State of Washington and the steel building Engineer Of
Record.
If you have any questions please callme at 425-257-7264.
r j
Sincerely, f(,
Steve Miller
Associate Engineer
CITY OF EVERETT • 3200 Cedar Street • Everett, WA 98201 • (425) 257-8800 • Fax (425) 257-8856
DI3DCMILLERIA-10 WCTMORE AVENUE NEW MADISON COMMUNITY CHURCH
