Structural Design Associates <br />Engineering Structures to Last <br />SDA 99617 <br />November 7, 2023 <br />Tracy Iwata <br />7913 Timber Circle <br />Everett, WA 98203 <br />Subject: Shearwall and Framing Questions <br />SDA Ref. # 9617 <br />Permit Number: B2208-106 <br />To whom this may concern: <br />At the request of Tracy Iwata this office reviewed the subject project regarding the addition of a <br />2-ft by 2-ft window centered on the kitchen dinette sink on the upper level and full height studs <br />that were installed at 16" on -center. <br />No additional work needs to be done to address the opening in the wall. <br />The plans call for full height studs at 12" on -center. A suitable solution would be to add a <br />second stud alongside the existing stud, making the spacing; (2) 2x6 studs at 16" on -center. <br />Fasten the additional stud to the existing stud with (2) 8d common nails at 12" on -center, or nail <br />sheathing to stud with 8d at 12" on -center to brace the stud from deflecting.
