CITY OF EVERETT WEST MARINE VIEW DRIVE/ALVERSON AND 41 ST ST/GRAND AVE <br />PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS <br />STATE FUND# HLP-PB15(032) <br />WO #3630 July 25, 2024 <br />119 <br />1 COE 8-21 SIGNING.rtf <br />2 8-21 PERMANENT SIGNING <br />3 <br />4 8-21.1 Description <br />5 <br />6 Permanent signing shall be installed in accordance with Section 8-21 of the Standard <br />7 Specifications with the following modifications: <br />8 <br />9 Traffic regulatory signs shall be installed in accordance with Everett Standard Plan 716. <br />10 Street name signs shall be installed in accordance with Everett Standard Plan 715 or 717 <br />11 and 718 as indicated on the plans. <br />12 <br />13 8-21.2 Materials <br />14 <br />15 This section is revised to read: <br />16 <br />17 All signs shown in the plans with a mounting height of 14 feet and below shall be <br />18 manufactured with a protective overlay film. The protective overlay film shall be a <br />19 transparent, self adhesive film that is solvent resistant and approved for use by the <br />20 reflective sheeting manufacturer. <br />21 <br />22 8-21.2(1) Equipment List and Drawings <br />23 <br />24 C) Shop Drawings for Signs: Within 20 days following execution of the contract, <br />25 or approval of subcontractor, the contractor shall submit shop drawings for the <br />26 traffic signs to be used on the project. Within 20 days following approval of <br />27 the shop drawings, the contractor shall submit a letter to the engineer <br />28 certifying that the signs have been ordered and certifying the manufacturers <br />29 planned delivery date. <br />30 <br />31 The traffic signs shall be approved by the engineer in writing prior to the actual <br />32 ordering of the equipment. <br />33 <br />34 <br />35 8-21.3 Construction Requirements <br />36 <br />37 8-21.3(4) Sign Removal <br />38 <br />39 This section is revised to read: <br />40 <br />41 Where shown in the Plans or ordered by the Engineer, the existing signs and, if so <br />42 indicated, the sign structures shall be removed by the Contractor. Where indicated, <br />43 the Contractor shall remove concrete pedestals to a minimum of 1 foot below finished <br />44 grade and backfill the hole to the satisfaction of the Engineer. Where an existing sign <br />45 post is located within a sidewalk area, the Contractor shall remove the post and finish <br />46 the area to make the sidewalk continuous. Wood signs, wood sign posts, wood <br />47 structures, metal sign posts, windbeams, and other metal structural members shall <br />48 become the property of the Contractor and shall be removed from the project. <br />49 Aluminum signs shall remain the property of the City of Everett. <br />50 <br />51
