CITY OF EVERETT WEST MARINE VIEW DRIVE/ALVERSON AND 41 ST ST/GRAND AVE <br />PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS <br />STATE FUND# HLP-PB15(032) <br />WO #3630 July 25, 2024 <br />130 <br />1 Secure bond breaker geotextile to the base with pins or nails punched through <br />2 galvanized discs 2- to 2.75-inches in diameter. Maximum spacing must be less than 6 <br />3 feet except along edges spacing must be less than 3 feet. The nail or pin and disk must <br />4 not protrude above the surface of the bond breaker geotextile. Do not operate/ drive <br />5 equipment on the bond breaker geotextile. <br />6 <br />7 Dampen the bond breaker geotextile with water before covering it with pavement. <br />8 <br />9 Protect the bond breaker geotextile from damage by any cause. Repair damaged bond <br />10 breaker geotextile. <br />11 <br />12 8-26.3(8) As-built Construction Tolerances <br />13 Vertical wall alignment: – 1.5 inches over any 10 feet distance. <br />14 <br />15 Wall Batter: within 2 degrees of design batter. <br />16 <br />17 Horizontal alignment: – 1.5 inches (40 mm) over any 10 feet distance. Corners, bends <br />18 & curves: – 1 foot to theoretical location. <br />19 <br />20 Maximum horizontal gap between erected units shall be h ‰ inch. <br />21 <br />22 8-26.3(9) Field Quality Control <br />23 Wall construction shall be monitored by a qualified Engineer to verify field conditions. <br />24 If this work is not performed by the site geotechnical engineer, a geotechnical engineer <br />25 shall be consulted in those matters pertaining to soil conditions and wall performance. <br />26 <br />27 The foundation soils at each wall location shall be inspected by the Engineer and any <br />28 unsuitable soils or improperly compacted material shall be removed and replaced as <br />29 directed by the Engineer prior to wall construction to provide adequate bearing capacity <br />30 and minimize settlement. <br />31 <br />32 All wall excavation and retained soils shall be inspected for groundwater conditions <br />33 and any additional drainage provisions required in the field shall be incorporated into <br />34 the wall construction as directed by the Engineer. <br />35 <br />36 Reinforced backfill material shall be tested and approved by the Engineer for use in <br />37 the reinforced soil zone meeting the minimum requirements of the approved design <br />38 plans. <br />39 <br />40 All soil backfill shall be tested by the Contractor for moisture, density, and compaction <br />41 periodically (every 2’ vertically, 100’-200’ c/c) meeting the minimum requirements of <br />42 the approved design plans or project specifications. <br />43 <br />44 Wall construction shall be periodically inspected by the Engineer to ensure the geogrid <br />45 reinforcement elevations and lengths are installed in accordance with the approved <br />46 design plans. <br />47 <br />48 All wall elevations, grades, and backslope conditions shall be verified by the Engineer <br />49 in the field for conformance with the approved design plans. Any revisions to the <br />50 structure geometry or design criteria shall require design modification prior to <br />51 proceeding with construction.
