All necessary permits for this work will be furnished by <br />6 the Contracting Agency. The Contractor is responsible for all work, records, and reports <br />7 required to perform the work described in this section. The Contracting Agency will perform <br />8 all testing of suspected hazardous or contaminated material. <br />9 <br />10 The Contractor shall notify the Engineer 10 working days prior to beginning work in the <br />11 area identified in the Plans as contaminated. The Contractor shall notify the Engineer <br />12 immediately if contamination is discovered in areas other than those identified in the Plans <br />13 or is suspected through observations such as an oily sheen or discolored soils that may or <br />14 may not emit strong chemical odors. <br />15 <br />16 Contaminated Soil and Hazardous Material <br />17 The Engineer will determine the limits of excavation required. All material that is <br />18 designated by the Engineer to be removed shall be handled and stored in a manner that <br />19 prevents the spread of contamination to adjacent soil or water. Separate stockpiles shall <br />20 be maintained for known hazardous or contaminated material and for suspected <br />21 hazardous or contaminated material. The Contractor shall transport hazardous or <br />22 contaminated material and dispose of it at a permitted facility. The Contractor shall provide <br />23 the Engineer with a copy of the shipping manifest or bill of lading indicating the amount of <br />24 material hauled to disposal and bearing the disposal site operators confirmation for receipt <br />25 of the material. Manifests shall be submitted in accordance with Section 1-07.5(7). <br />26 <br />27 Contaminated Water <br />28 All water that is removed from the areas of contamination, including free water that leaches <br />29 from contaminated soil stockpiles or water that is suspected of being contaminated, shall <br />30 be collected, handled and stored in a manner that prevents the spread of contamination <br />31 to adjacent soil or water. The Contractor shall transport contaminated water and dispose <br />32 of it at a permitted facility. The Contractor shall provide the Engineer with a copy of the <br />33 shipping manifest or bill of lading indicating the amount of material hauled to disposal and <br />34 bearing the disposal site operators confirmation for receipt of the material. Manifests shall <br />35 be submitted in accordance with Section 1-07.5(7). <br />36 <br />37 COE 2-02.3(4).docx <br />38 (******) <br />39 <br />40 Section 2-02.3 is supplemented with the following: <br />41 <br />42 2-02.3(4) Saw-cutting <br />43 (City of Everett, May 21, 2018) <br />44 <br />45 Curb, gutter, sidewalk shall be saw cut full height and width. <br />46 <br />47 Asphalt shall be saw cut full depth. <br />48 <br />49 When the drawings indicate or the Engineer requires sawcutting pavement which <br />50 comprises of rigid base and asphalt overlay, the minimum saw cut-depth for the <br />51 rigid base shall be full depth.
