LARRY KIEL
1610 106TH PL SE UNITS A, B
B2401-013
2. It appears that special inspections for structural wood are required per IBC 1705.12.2.
The drawings should include a note requiring special inspections similar to the following:
"Periodic special inspection shall be required for nailing, anchoring, and other fastening of
elements of the seismic force-resisting system, including wood shear walls, wood
diaphragms, drag struts, braces, shear panel and hold downs. Special inspections are not
required when the fastener spacing is more than 4 inches."
3. The project appears to include prefabricated trusses. See IRC Sections R502.11 and
R802.10. The following comments should be addressed:
a. The drawings should include a note specifying the following:
i. The trusses should be designed by a professional engineer licensed in the
state of Washington.
ii. The truss construction and calculations should bear the seal and signature of
the engineer performing the design.
iii. The truss design should be reviewed for conformance with the approved
construction drawings and referenced building codes, and approved for
construction by the designer-of-record for the approved drawings, prior to
fabrication and erection.
This review has been performed for general compliance with the building codes as adopted and
amended by the state of Washington and the city of Everett. Corrections and comments made
during the review process do not relieve the project from compliance with code and permit
requirements. The designers-of-record are responsible for a complete design in accordance with
the laws of the state of Washington.
If you have any questions or require additional clarification, please contact us.
Sincerely,
Yin Lu, R.A.
Associate Engineer— Building Plans Examiner
(425)257-7299
ylu@everettwa.gov
S:\#Common\Bldg Permit Reviews\2_Residential Reviews\1610 106TH PL SE - New duplex\B2401-013 - 1610
106TH PL SE - 1st Building Review.docx
3200 Cedar Street © 425.257.8810 O permitservices@everettwa.gov
Everett, WA 98201 425.257.8857 fax everettwa.gov/permits
Page 3 of 3
