Ms. Nisha Taylor <br />Pye-Barker Fire and Safety, LLC <br />Plan Check Number: M2206-031, First Building Review <br />July 12, 2022 <br />Comments <br />The proposed project appears intended to install a 'commercial cooking recirculating system". <br />See the definitions per IMC Section 202, and IBC Section 107.2.1. The following comments <br />should be addressed: <br />a. A revised application should be submitted for the installation and inspection of a Type I <br />hood system. <br />b. The make and model of the system should be clearly indicated on the drawings. <br />c. The system is required to comply with UL 71013. Documentation should be submitted for <br />review. See IMC Section 507.1 Exception 2. <br />d. It appears that the intended system is a ductless system. This should be stated in the <br />drawings. <br />e. The drawing should specify the requirement to obtain additional permits, including but not <br />limited to electrical, gas, and fire suppression system. <br />2. The ventilation in the area where the hood system is located is required to comply with IMC <br />Section 403.3.1.1. Submit documentation substantiating compliance. See IMC Section 507.1 <br />Exception 2. <br />3. The hood is required to comply with the minimum clearance requirements of IMC Sections <br />507.2.6 and 308.4. Documentation substantiating the minimum clearance requirements and <br />provided clearance around the system should be submitted for review. <br />4. Continuing with the previous comment, the system should be separated from the public by <br />walls or other barriers to provide contact and injury. A separate building permit is required <br />where significant modifications to existing construction and or to construct new walls occurs. <br />Minor modifications and wall construction may be included in the Type I hood application. <br />Details including top and bottom wall anchorage should be included. See IBC Section 105.1. <br />This review has been performed for general compliance with the building codes as adopted and <br />amended by the state of Washington and the city of Everett. Corrections and comments made <br />during the review process do not relieve the project from compliance with code and permit <br />requirements.
