From: Ben Monk
Sent: Wednesday, July 17, 2024 11:47 AM
To: Cindy Bergsma
Subject: 914 90th St SW Adult Family Home Conversion
Attachments: back deck and ramp.jpg; bathl.jpg; bathl.jpg; staff bed and bath.jpg; front
ramp.jpg
Category 2: Sensitive information
Hi Cindy,
Please review the following information about the AFH conversion at 914 90th St SW. Redfin photos
were pulled and attached to the email to better explain the differences uncovered during the permit
review.
Back -sheet W and SRC Required boxes were checked on Permit B2405-025 for the following reasons:
1. Work without Permits
a. The client received a correction letter notice for the permit submittal documents
and performed the corrections to the home immediately, misinterpreting the
meaning of a "Correction Letter" by assuming the corrections needed to happen to
the home in order to obtain permits. The applicant then brought in photos (located
in the folder) of the new work performed between submittals. Some of this work
may include, but is not limited, to railing of the ramp and front deck, door handles,
and grab bars installed in the bathrooms.
b. The client seems to have converted the shower before applying for permits as
evidenced by the redfin photos from the last sold date of September 6th 2022,
against the photos brought into the counter. It is possible that there were no
changes made to the plumbing, but it is not clear. Doorways may have been
converted before applying for permits. The plans in the folder show the difference
in doorway widths before and after. We decided that this was sufficient information
for permit approval, but warned the client that dry wall may need to be removed for
inspection.
SRC Required
See item 1b related to the shower for reasoning.
Additionally, the scope of work should be updated to include adding a bedroom. This building seems to
have 5, but the proposed design there is 6. This does not affect my approval status but may be of
concern to Planning.
Sincerely,
— Ben Monk, P.E.
Building Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8810 1 3200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett, WA 98201
EVERETT Phone Hours: M/W/Th: 8:30 a.m. —12 p.m & 1 p.m. — 3 p.m.
everettwa.gov/permits I onlinepermits.everettwa.gov I Facebook I Twitter
