Their concern is regarding <br /> stairwell wall design and the closeness to the neighbor's house, and the depth of excavation, so they <br /> were concerned aoout any impact to the neighboring property. <br /> We had provided a horizontal wall calculation, but the City felt the use of a restrained wall design value <br /> was required for this case. We have gotten the required Geotechnical Stability Investigation Report and <br /> confirmation cf the design loads in a follow-up email. I am attaching copies to this letter. Using those <br /> values. I have performed the design check of the basement wall as detailed on the plans. As noted in my <br /> discussion with the City, as the wall gets shorter with depth, I have checked the wall at both 2' up from the <br /> bottom slab(3x the wall thickiess), and at about 3' from the top Those calculations show the wall design <br /> given is adequate to withstand the 55 pcf loading discussed with Mr. Martin and confirmed with the <br /> Geotech. Since the wall is even shorter below that point the Geotech said that a check of the wall below <br /> 6' for added seismic loading was not required. <br /> Revised drawings with a reference to the Geotech excavation slopes are being submitted.
