October 23, 2024 <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 6:30 p.m., October 23, <br />2024, by President Schwab. <br /> <br />Upon roll call, it was found that Council Members Tuohy, Bader, Rhyne, Zarlingo, Vogeli, Fosse, <br />and President Schwab were present. Mayor Franklin was excused. <br /> <br />Council Member Zarlingo led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />Council Member Bader recited the land acknowledgement. <br /> <br />President Schwab invited Police Chief John DeRousse to introduce two new police officers. <br /> <br /> OATH – POLICE OFFICERS <br /> <br />Moved by Council Member Tuohy, seconded by Council Member Bader, to concur with the <br />appointment of Jayland Roxas and Benjamin Weaver as new police officers. <br /> <br /> <br />Roll was called with all council members voting yes. <br /> <br /> Motion carried. <br /> <br />The Deputy City Clerk administered the oath of office, President Schwab pinned the officers with <br />their badges, and Council members congratulated Officer Roxas and Weaver. <br /> <br />The minutes of the October 16, 2024, meeting were approved. <br /> <br /> <br />MAYOR <br /> <br />Mayor Franklin was excused. <br /> <br />Jennifer Gregerson, Administration, stated that the Mayor was not in attendance because she <br />was at a hosted and funded Regional Leadership Forum. Community Support Manager Kelly <br />Roark provided an update on the relocation efforts of the occupants of the Wait’s Motel, and <br />Police Chief John DeRousse provided an update on the police department’s enforcement around <br />the area of 3300 block of Lombard. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued with Police Chief John DeRousse answering council questions. <br /> <br />
