• , ORDINANCE NO. 1257 An Ordinance of the City of Everett, definini, Jitney Busses, regulating the operation and carrying of passengers on the same upon the public streets of the City of Everett, pro- hibiting the driving and operating of Jitney Busses on certain streets, and portions of streets, in the City of Everett, pro- viding for the licensing of Jitney Busses and the licensing of drivers of the same, providing for the revocation of such li- censes, providing for the designation of routes and schedules of time for the operation of Jitney Busses and providing a pen- alty for the violation of any of the provisions of this Ordinance. THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1. The word, "Jitney Bus" shall include and mean every motor propelled vehicle not operated on tracks, used in the occupation of carrying persons for hire, operating on any street for the purpose of affording a means of transporta- tion along any street or highway ordinarily afforded by street railways, by indiscriminately accepting and discharging within the limits of tie city such persons as may offer themselves for transportation, or hire, along the streets or high:eays on which such vehicle is used, operated or driven. Section 2. No person, firm, corporation, partnership or association of persons shall operate or drive a Jitney Bus for hire, on any public street or highway in the City of Everett without first obtaining a license for the same and a permit for the driver of the same as provided for in this Ordinance. Section 3. Any person, partnership, corporation or as- sociation of persons intending to operate or drive a Jitney Bus as herein defined shall first make application for the same to
