•
•
Mr. Justin Simpson
Fluke'Corporation.
November 15,2021
Page 2
enclosed in accordance with IBC Section 1019.3. The travel distance associated with the exit
access stairways is existing and remains unchanged. Based on a general review of the
furniture layout plans for eats floor, no B occupancy areas exceed 300 travel distance to the
First Floor exits or Second Floor exits to outdoor elevated walkways that lead to the adjacent
parking lot Additionally, no F-1 occupancy areas (found on Level 1) exceed 250' travel
distance to an exit on the First Floor.
Coffman surveyed the location of the existing doors on electromagnetic door hold open devices
(see Appendix A). It does not appear that the current construction of the walls is rated or is
required to be fire rated. Most of the existing frames and doors are not rated. Additionally, the
walls do not continue through the suspended ceiling to deck. Horizontally, the walls do not
continue in a manner that provides a complete fire separation from adjacent spaces. The walls
are constructed as normal, unrated partitions and as a result, it does not appear that providing
doors on electromagnetic door hold open devices that release upon fire alarm activation are
required based upon the use of the space. Coffman's opinion is the electromagnetic door hold
open devices may be demolished.
Please clt if you have any questions.
• Sincerely,
COFFMAN ENGINEERS, INC,
0,0a111"..
\ E
t
k /it
v• •Jr, IP
ar,
.46ittv-
es
livarvilootit
Dave Granilich, P.E.
Senior Discipline Fire Protection Engineer
dg:rzd
P:1Sea12/Jobs12/0619 Fluke-PCA15.0 PROJECT DEVELOPMENTAFite Door Sthvey1Fluke Fire Door Review(R1).doe
3itp www.coffman.com
