November 20, 2024 <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 6:30 p.m., November 20, <br />2024, by Vice President Zarlingo. <br /> <br />Upon roll call, it was found that Mayor Franklin and Council Members Tuohy, Rhyne, Zarlingo, <br />Fosse, and President Schwab were present. Council Members Bader and Vogeli were excused. <br /> <br />Council Member Rhyne led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />Council Member Tuohy recited the land acknowledgement. <br /> <br />The minutes of the November 13, 2024 meeting were approved. <br /> <br />MAYOR <br /> <br />Mayor Franklin thanked city staff, public safety, and Snohomish County PUD for their roles in <br />preparing and addressing the windstorm and gave appreciation to staff, city council and residents <br />in recognition of the Thanksgiving holiday. <br /> <br />Mayor Franklin stated that the City of Everett’s Police Department partnered with Millennia <br />Ministries to hand out food to the community last weekend, and the Everett Firefighter’s <br />Association is hosting a free Thanksgiving dinner on November 24th at the Carl Gibson Center. <br />She continued by stating Everett Transit is hosting “Stuff A Bus”, collecting donations at the Fred <br />Meyer on Murphy’s Corner for three weekends starting on November 30th, and AFSCME <br />members are organizing two charitable drives – one to support the Burned Children’s Fund and <br />the other to collect food and supplies for the Everett Animal Shelter. Donations can also be <br />dropped off at any of the Everett Fire Stations until December 15th. <br /> <br />Mayor Franklin stated that the Downtown Everett Association is hosting the upcoming <br />Wintertide Sip & Shop event on November 21st, and the Wintertide’s official Tree Lighting and <br />Kickoff Celebration begins November 29th from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. More information on activities <br />can be found on the City’s website. <br /> <br />Mayor Franklin provided comments on last week’s public comment. <br /> <br />Mayor Franklin invited Deputy Police Chief Jeff Hendrickson to introduce a new police officer. <br /> <br /> OATH OF OFFICE <br /> <br />Moved by Council Member Tuohy, seconded by Council Member Fosse, to concur with the <br />appointment of Timothy Ota as a new police officer. <br />
