KENT CRANE
INSPECTION AND ENGINEERING
on site verification of welding was performed by KIE but information was reviewed post
welding.
Findings.
• The overall condition of the welds was acceptable.
• No defects were noted on the welded connections.
• All welded connections met the required 3/16" design.
• Some of the angle iron sections measured longer than the designed 4", leading to a
longer welded section(Figure 1). This was not noted as a concern, as a longer weld
would strengthen the connection. All three sides were still welded as specified in
the drawings.
• An RFI was provided for one bolted connection on the South Canopy between the
angle iron and the building column. The bolts did not align so an RFI was provide
to weld the angle iron instead of bolting. This weld was to be a 3/16" fillet weld.
there was no specification to fill the bolt hole. The bolt hole appears to be filled
with filler material and a small circular indication is in the middle (Figure 2).
4/26/2024
KCIE_BURTON CONSTRUCTION_EVERETT MARINA_BUILDING CANOPIES_WELD INSPECTION REPORT_2024.04.19
Page 2 of 5
