Everett 2044 <br />Planning our future together <br />TRANSIT <br />EVERETT 2044 <br />TRANSPORTATION ELEMENT <br />PROPOSED GOALS/POLICIES <br />TR-14 Everett proactively partners with other jurisdictions, transit agencies, and regional planning agencies in <br />the development of an efficient and effective regional multimodal transportation system. <br />TR-15 Maintain transit service as a viable mode -of -travel to and from downtown and other activity centers <br />within the city and region. Prioritize transit and other transportation services to trip generating sites in <br />Everett. <br />TR-16 Integrate future high -capacity transit systems with transportation modes and facilities serving the city <br />including inter -city and local transit, rideshare, and park & rides, as well as pedestrian and bicycle <br />facilities. <br />TR-17 Implement dedicated transit pathways to enable reliable, safe, and affordable connections around and <br />through the city. <br />STREETS <br />TR-18 Design and manage arterials to support regional mobility while discouraging regional traffic from using <br />arterials in Everett to avoid freeway congestion or pricing Support regional capacity improvements <br />that will benefit Everett by reducing the volume of through traffic using the city road network to bypass <br />highway congestion. <br />TR-19 Promote access management to maintain arterial capacity and reduce mid -block conflict points by <br />reducing the number of curb cuts, increasing driveway spacing for new and redeveloped properties, <br />and providing for median treatments where appropriate to provide for local access to the arterials <br />while minimizing conflicts with through traffic. <br />TR-20 Roadway cross sections (lane width and number, bicycle lane width, sidewalk width) on arterials are <br />right sized in mixed -use centers, supporting reduced vehicle speeds and priority for comfortable <br />walking and rolling in those areas. <br />TR-21 With the exception of peak commute periods and before and after major events or incidents, cross- <br />town driving trips can be completed in 20 minutes or Tess and driving times within and through Everett <br />average at least 20 miles per hour, retaining private vehicles as a viable mode choice for travelers. <br />ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION <br />TR-22 Promote and facilitate active transportation. <br />TR-23 Incorporate exercise, recreation areas or community gathering spaces incorporated into public project <br />designs, when feasible and possible. <br />TR-24 Barriers to walking and rolling on or across city streets, arterials and collectors are remediated as part <br />of ongoing improvements. <br />TR-25 Construct, maintain, and repair sidewalks, bike lanes and trails for active transportation in accordance <br />with adopted plans and design standards to encourage active transportation and improve health. <br />1 2/1 0/2024 <br />TRANSPORTATION ELEMENT <br />PROPOSED GOALS/POLICIES <br />Page 3 <br />
