Everett 2044 <br />Planning our future together <br />FREIGHT MOBILITY <br />EVERETT 2044 <br />TRANSPORTATION ELEMENT <br />PROPOSED GOALS/POLICIES <br />TR-26 Develop, manage, and maintain a safe, efficient, and reliable freight street network to provide freight <br />access to and from intermodal freight facilities, industrial and commercial districts, and the regional <br />transportation system. <br />TR-27 Invest to accommodate forecasted growth of interregional freight volumes and provide access to truck, <br />marine, rail, and air transportation systems. <br />TR-28 Ensure designated routes and facilities are adequate for over -dimensional trucks. <br />TR-29 Support the efficient delivery of goods and services to businesses and neighborhoods, while also <br />reducing environmental and neighborhood impacts. <br />TR-30 Encourage the use of energy efficient and clean delivery vehicles. <br />TR-31 Manage on- and off-street loading spaces to ensure adequate access for deliveries to businesses, while <br />maintaining access to homes and businesses. <br />TR-31 Coordinate with stakeholders and regional partners to support continued reinvestment in, and <br />modernization of, the freight rail network. <br />TRANSPORTATION FINANCE <br />TR-32 Actively seek local, state, and federal funding and other grants for the development, enhancement, and <br />preservation of the transportation infrastructure, including pedestrian, bicycle, and arterial <br />infrastructure, and intelligent traffic control systems (ITS) <br />TR-33 Prioritize funding for projects and programs that advance the following: improve mobility, safety, and <br />comfort within mixed -use centers; provide efficient freight movement for industrial centers; reduce <br />greenhouse gas emissions; support compact, pedestrian- and transit -oriented development. <br />TR-34 Invest transportation funds to be responsive to the distinct needs of each community, particularly <br />previously underserved areas. <br />TR-35 Direct transportation investments and services to support the designated Community Hubs and <br />Neighborhood Nodes identified in the adopted land use map. <br />SAFETY <br />TR-36 Implement projects, programs, and strategies on local streets to prioritize safe driving, walking, and <br />cycling by calming traffic and limiting vehicle speeds. <br />TR-37 Monitor traffic volume and speed on residential streets and establish appropriate traffic control <br />measures. <br />TR-37 Consider the needs of all roadway users when designing and building neighborhood traffic safety <br />projects. <br />TR-38 Employ traffic calming measures that adhere to Safe Systems principles and Complete Streets <br />ordinances to slow vehicular travel speed along residential streets and to discourage cut -through <br />traffic. <br />12/10/2024 <br />TRANSPORTATION ELEMENT <br />PROPOSED GOALS/POLICIES <br />Page 4 <br />
