_ I LA I i .__. <br />Everett 2044 <br />Planning our future together <br />ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS <br />EVERETT 2044 <br />TRANSPORTATION ELEMENT <br />PROPOSED GOALS/POLICIES <br />TR-39 Decrease vehicle miles traveled (VMT) by promoting and incentivizing alternate modes of travel, <br />including transit and active transportation. <br />TR-40 Create a robust network of electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities. <br />TR-41 Continue to expand the electric fleet/hybrid vehicle fleet and vehicles and equipment that use fuels <br />with reduced GHG emissions. <br />TR-42 Promote street and trail alignments and designs that respond to topography and natural features, and <br />protect streams, wildlife habitat, and native trees. <br />TR-43 Incorporate natural drainage practices into transportation infrastructure projects where it will be <br />e ffective and feasible. <br />REGIONAL, STATE AND FEDERAL COORDINATION <br />TR-44 Coordinate planning, design, and financing of transportation systems with local school districts, other <br />n eighboring jurisdictions, and regional agencies. <br />TR-45 Support maintenance of existing rail and water corridors and the expansion of the capacity of those <br />corridors consistent with the City's economic development goals. <br />TR-46 Support expansion of heavy and light rail transportation and facilities for freight and passenger <br />services. <br />TR-47 Reduce disaster -related impacts to transportation systems by coordinating response planning and <br />developing strategies for prevention, mitigation, and recovery collaboratively with City departments <br />and regional partners. <br />PARKING <br />TR-48 Develop and implement a comprehensive parking management program for the entire City of Everett, <br />including active management of parking in mixed use centers; development, protection, and regulation <br />o f on -street parking throughout the City; and right -sized on -and off -site parking requirements for all <br />private and public developments. <br />TR- 49 Encourage the shared use of parking and vehicles to maximize the efficient use of limited urban space. <br />12/10/2024 <br />TRANSPORTATION ELEMENT <br />PROPOSED GOALS/POLICIES <br />Page 5 <br />
