This proposal shall be accepted by the 2 <br />Engineer prior to resuming any work requiring traffic control. 3 <br /> 4 <br />There shall be no delay to medical, fire, or other emergency vehicles. The Contractor 5 <br />shall alert all flaggers and personnel of this requirement. 6 <br /> 7 <br />General Restrictions 8 <br />Construction vehicles using a closed traffic lane shall travel only in the normal 9 <br />direction of traffic flow unless expressly allowed in an accepted traffic control plan. 10 <br />Construction vehicles shall be equipped with flashing or rotating amber lights. 11 <br /> 12 <br />No two consecutive on-ramps, off-ramps, or intersections shall be closed at the same 13 <br />time and only one ramp at an interchange shall be closed, unless specifically shown 14 <br />in the Plans. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Roads or ramps that are designated as part of a detour shall not be closed or 17 <br />restricted during the implementation of that detour, unless specifically shown in the 18 <br />Plans. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Controlled Access 21 <br />No special access or egress shall be allowed by the Contractor other than normal 22 <br />legal movements or as shown in the Plans. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Contractor’s vehicles of 10,000 GVW or greater shall not exit or enter a lane open to 25 <br />public traffic except as follows: 26 <br /> 27 <br />Egress and ingress shall only occur during the hours of allowable lane closures, 28 <br />and: 29 <br /> 30 <br />1. For exiting an open lane of traffic, by decelerating in a lane that is 31 <br />closed during the allowable hours for lane closures. 32 <br /> 33 <br />2. For entering an open lane of traffic, by accelerating in a closed lane 34 <br />during the allowable hours for lane closures. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Traffic control vehicles are excluded from the gross vehicle weight requirement. If 37 <br />placing construction signs will restrict traveled lanes, then the work will be permitted 38 <br />during the hours of allowable lane closures. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Advance Notification 41 <br />The Contractor shall notify the Engineer in writing of any traffic impacts related to 42 <br />lane closure, shoulder closure, sidewalk closure, or any combination for the week by 43 <br />12:00 p.m. (noon) Wednesday the week prior to the stated impacts. 44 <br /> 45 <br />The Contractor shall notify the Engineer in writing ten working days in advance of 46 <br />any traffic impacts related to full roadway closure, ramp closure, or both. 47 <br /> 48 <br />The Contractor shall notify the Engineer in writing of any changes to the stated traffic 49 <br />impacts a minimum of 48 hours prior to the traffic impacts. 50 <br /> 51
