Fulton Street Pedestrian Bicycle Corridor PAGE 108 OF 114 CONTRACT
FEDERAL AID # TAP-0420(026)
WO #3785 September 6, 2024

Category 2: Sensitive information
Once an IP address is set up the thermal traffic detector shall be programmed 1
with the use of a computer or network connection. A standard computer 2
running a web browser is necessary. 3
4
Detector configurations shall be able to be stored. These “offline” networks 5
can be saved and easily reinstalled if needed. 6
7
Detectors may be linked to 24 outputs and 20 inputs using Boolean Logic 8
features: AND, OR, NOT. It will be possible to generate conditional outputs 9
based upon inputs from a controller. 10
11
It shall be possible to make a detector directional sensitive. Options will 12
include an omni-directional detector or a detector that only senses movement: 13
from right to left, left to right, up to down or down to up as you look at the 14
screen. 15
16
8 data detection zones per sensor may be used for collection of vehicle count, 17
speed, classification, occupancy, density, headway, and gap time. These 18
detectors will detect and store traffic data in no-volatile memory at user-19
defined intervals of 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 15, 30, and 60 minutes. 20
21
Traficon Data Tool (TDT) software may be used with a PC to download data 22
and export to a spreadsheet. A standard web browser will be used to upload 23
and download detector configurations, technical events, send software 24
versions upgrades, and do remote setup of detectors. 25
26
The thermal traffic detector shall be able to detect vulnerable roadway users 27
such as bicyclists and is capable of outputting a separate call allowing an 28
agency to give early or extended time to these users. 29
30
The thermal traffic detector shall be able to delay or extend a detector zone 31
output in combination with an input from the controller. 32
33
The thermal traffic detector shall be capable of detecting wrong-way drivers 34
and shall provide an alarm/event via communication and/or output. 35
36
The thermal traffic detector shall provide an alarm and/or output when the 37
user selected queue detection threshold of occupancy is exceeded for more 38
than a user selected time threshold. 39
40
The thermal traffic detector shall distinguish up to five classes of detected 41
vehicles based upon user selectable vehicle length thresholds. Using optional 42
premium traffic data, the sensor can classify up to 3 classes of vehicles using 43
vehicle width and up to 5 classes combining both length and width. 44
45
The thermal traffic detector shall be able to emulate loop emulation with user 46
selectable loop dimensions. 47
