DIVISION 09 MATERIALS <br /> 9-14 EROSION CONTROL AND ROADSIDE PLANTING <br /> 9-14.1 Topsoil <br /> Section 9-14.1 is supplemented with the following: <br /> All soil shall be protected from all sources of additional moisture at the Supplier, in <br /> covered conveyance, and at the Project site until incorporated into the Work. Soil <br /> placement and compaction will not be allowed when the ground is frozen or <br /> excessively wet, or when the weather is too wet as determined by the Engineer. <br /> When the Contract specifies testing by a Contractor provided testing laboratory, <br /> the laboratory must be an STA, AASHTO orASTM or other designated recognized <br /> standards organization accredited laboratory with certification maintained current. <br /> The laboratory must be capable of performing all tests to the designated <br /> recognized standards specified and will provide test results with an accompanying <br /> Manufacturer's Certificate of Compliance. <br /> 9-14.1(1) Topsoil Type A <br /> Section 9-14.1(1) is supplemented with the following: <br /> Topsoil A shall consist of 2/3 sandy loam and 1/3 Soil Amendment. <br /> Sandy loam or loamy sand shall consist largely of sand, but with enough silt and <br /> clay present to give it a small amount of stability. Individual sand grains can be <br /> seen and felt readily. On squeezing in the hand when dry, it shall form a cast that <br /> will not only hold its shape when the pressure is released but shall withstand <br /> careful handling without breaking. <br /> The mixed soil shall meet the following gradation: <br /> Percent <br /> Sieve Size Passing <br /> (weight) <br /> 1 inch 100 <br /> '/2 inch >95% <br /> No. 10 >70% <br /> The mixed soil shall have a pH from 5.0 to 6.5 with dolomitic limestone added as <br /> necessary to attain this range. <br /> Soil Amendment shall be per Section 8-02.3(6). <br /> END OF SECTION 9-14 <br /> Alderwood Water&Wastewater District <br /> W2301 Trans Main 1 &2 Valve Replacement 9-01/5 Contract No. W2301 <br /> October 2023 <br />
